The Economic Section in Bangkok represents the South African Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
The main functions of the section are as follows:
- Ensuring appropriate market access for South African exports.
- Providing market information and other assistance to South African exporters; seeking markets in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar;
- Positioning South Africa as an alternative investment destination;
- Sourcing opportunities for technology transfer and joint ventures;
- Building of a long-term sustainable network in business and government that ensures the bilateral trade relationship continues to grow.
